Known as “the quiet yoga”, Yin yoga is derived from the Chinese Taoist tradition rather than the more common Indian tradition.
Developed in the west by Yin masters Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers and Bernie Clark, Yin yoga focuses attention on our deeper connective tissue and joints, rather than the muscles exercised in yang yoga. Holding poses for several minutes rather than seconds, we not not gradually increase the flexibility of this deeper, tougher tissue, we are also drawn to explore a range of sensations, feelings and emotions as we do so. Calming rather than restorative in its approach, our Yin class is accessible whilst remaining challenging. Suitable for all levels.
